Elliott (verified owner) –
I bought the stand alone receiver for a couple of reasons. One I wanted to choose the exact parts I wanted without having to buy the fully assembled gun and then just removing them and never using them, wasted money in my eyes. And second I was able to by the parts at my own pace and not have to shell out over 1500 all at once. I would do it all over again (and I might for the pdw) just because I learned so much from parts fitment, ammo variety, and maintenance and now I feel like I could diagnose a problem rather quickly. The receiver did have some fitment issues such as being really tight in the rear causing some binding with the bolt and carrier traveling to the rear when being fired and getting stuck. With some patience and some reading of forums the way I ended up going was using the RCM bolt and carrier with MP5 F recoil spring with some very fine hand sanding to polish the surfaces and decreasing the excessive tightness. It also pairs well with the Magpul grip module with the Timney two-stage trigger and enhance safety from Magpul, UTG PRO chassis system with the extended cocking handle from Zenith. The SB Tactical side folding brace is pretty tight to the receiver and the retaining pin but with taking it off and on a few times it does become easier. KCI and OEM HK mags work flawlessly. And lastly if you use the Scalarworks mount that is 1.42″ for a T-1/Holosun it gives you a perfect line of sight with your irons and minimal obstruction of the lower 1/3 of the optic from the from sight hood. This is by far the most fun build and most fun I’ve had at the range in years. Total build ran me about 2400 over time and with deals/coupons.
